How long before I can expect results?
Here is a timeline to give you an idea of what you can expect at each stage of your journey after your transplant:
First week – The first seven days are vital for the settlement of the implanted follicles.
Second week – You need to massage the transplanted area to remove all the scabs, you may notice some hairs falling out, don’t worry as the follicle is already implanted.
Weeks 2 to 8 – The transplanted hair will continue to fall out during this period. This is the case for 95% of patients.
Months 2 to 4 – Stationary stage. You will probably start to see the new hairs appearing (approx. 5%) from month 3. The hair is in the process of thickening.
Months 4 to 6 – The transplanted hair will start to grow (15%/20%)
Months 6 to 9 – At this stage you will really start to see the transplanted hair growing through (approx. 75%). Your hair will start to gain thickness and give a sense of natural density.
Months 9 to 12 – The changes that you will see may start slowing down at this stage but could add another 20/25 % before the final result.
Up to 18 months – The crown can take up to 18 months.
When can I get my hair cut?
After 2 weeks you can have a scissor cut.
After 4 months you can shave the donor area.
After 6 months you can shave the transplanted area.
When can I start smoking, drinking alcohol or having sexual intercourse?
We recommend avoiding these activities for 7 days after surgery (E-cigarette is possible sooner with low nicotine dose).
Can I wear a hat/cap or helmet?
After 7 days you can wear a ‘loose fitting’ baseball cap. You can wear any kind of hat after 1 month (Don’t wear tight hats for the first month).
If you work in construction and are required to wear a hard hat for work, you will need to take at least 10 days off work after surgery and then protect your head from the hard hat for the first week back with the use of a head band underneath the hat.
You are offering maximum grafts and PRP stem cell therapy all for one price?
Yes! We will take as many grafts as possible/required to reverse the years of hair loss. PRP therapy is a new treatment to help regrow hair and stop hair falling out. We take a small amount of your own blood and separate the stem cell-rich plasma and then inject this into the affected areas. This treatment helps the transplanted hair as well as your original hair.
Why is the price so low? Is there a catch?
There is no catch. The price is cheaper than the UK clinics for many reasons. The Turkish economy differs from the UK and in general the cost of everything in Turkey is much less than the UK, so our prices reflect that.
Hair transplant in Turkey; I've heard about botched surgeries. Should I be worried?
It’s natural to be worried about any surgical procedure and you should always think long and hard about if it is the right thing for you. There is no denying there are hundreds of clinics in Turkey and not all of them will have your best intentions at heart.
Our Turkish surgeon is based in a state of the art JCI Accredited hospital which is part of an award-winning group of hospitals so you can be assured that the clinical practice/hygiene is all met to the very highest of standards.
We have built a close relationship of trust with our Turkish surgeons and we are confident their standard of surgery is outstanding. You will feel at ease as soon as you speak with the surgeon and we, at GMH, are available on the days before, during and directly after your transplant for any support you may need.
As with any type of surgery, there are always risks and we actively encourage you to do the proper research on a clinic before undergoing any type of surgery. We have a proven track record of successful transplants and hundreds of happy customers over the years, backed up by hundreds of reviews across multiple platforms online.
What does the 10-year guarantee cover?
The ten year guarantee will cover a low or unsatisfactory result. If after 12 months it is clear that you have not had the result that was discussed with you during your consultation with the surgeon, then you can send in your pictures for him to check and if he agrees then he will invite you back for a second surgery free of charge.
Does it work?
There is a 96% success rate for FUE procedures across the industry, the unsuccessful procedures can be for several reasons, but most likely caused by an underlying medical condition (for example high blood pressure or undiagnosed diabetes).
Some people can sabotage their own results if they don’t follow the aftercare instructions correctly. It also depends what someone’s perception of a good result is, 1 person’s idea of a good result might be totally different to another person’s.
It is also worth considering that not everyone is a good candidate for a hair transplant. If your donor area is weak or limited on graft numbers, then a full coverage will not be possible.
At GMH we are proud that we inform all our prospective clients about the reality of their situation and what they can realistically achieve prior to booking.
